GTA for India: a 3D Mumbai driving game built with Claude

A spinner picked the topic, and the topic was GTA for India. So I built a 3D Mumbai driving game with Claude that runs in the browser. The reel shows the short version. This is the longer one.

What the game is

You drive an auto through a real 3D Mumbai. There's traffic, potholes, cows, crowds and smog you can actually see. The joke behind it is simple. Indian roads are already GTA, so I built the actual game.

Along the way you'll dodge police checkpoints and challans. You can also steal a taxi, and the driver shouts at you in Marathi.

Mummy's missed calls

The core of the game is the wanted level. Here, your wanted level is Mummy's missed calls. Every time you crash, Mummy calls.

One, two, three, four, five. At five, it's GHAR AA JAO.

It's a small design choice, but it gives the wanted level a clear shape. Crashes are the trigger, the calls are the count, and five is the limit. The pressure comes from a parent, which is the joke.

The cow

The moment of truth in the reel is the cow. It blocks the road, and you honk. Honk, honk, honk, and then it moves. The cow only moves after three honks.

That's a rule you can state in one sentence. It's also the kind of rule that works well on screen, because the reel can show the whole thing in a few seconds.

Building it with Claude

I built the game with Claude, and it runs in the browser. You open it and drive.

If you want to build something similar, start from a joke with clear rules. Mummy's calls, the three-honk cow and the Marathi taxi driver are each one sentence long. Short rules are easy to describe to an AI, easy to check when you play, and easy to explain in a short video.
