Credit card minimum due: ask AI what it really costs

Paying the minimum stops late fees but not interest. One question to an AI chat, with your statement attached, shows the difference.

Paying only the minimum due on your credit card feels safe. The bank says you're fine. Your wallet disagrees.

This is the third entry in the AI Jugaad series, and the trick is small. Upload your statement to any AI chat and ask one question. The model reads the fine print and tells you what the minimum payment costs.

What the minimum actually does

The minimum due stops late fees. It does not stop interest.

Pay only the minimum, and the interest-free period is gone. That's the detail the AI picks up from the fine print, and it's why the cost shows up by the next statement even though you paid what the bank asked for.

What the AI found on an example statement

The reel uses an example statement with Rs 40,000 due. The payment made was Rs 2,000.

From that, the AI worked out about Rs 1,614 in interest and GST by the next statement. That's about sixteen hundred rupees next month.

New purchases push the number higher, so read the figure as a starting point. It will not stay fixed if you keep spending on the card.

How to run it yourself

The workflow has three steps.

  1. Take your credit card statement.
  2. Upload it to any AI chat.
  3. Ask one question about what happens if you pay only the minimum.

Nothing here needs a special tool. Any AI chat that accepts the statement will do, and the value comes from the model reading the terms printed on it. The reel doesn't show the exact prompt on screen. The creator says to comment JUGAAD and they'll send it.

One caveat belongs next to the number. The AI gives you an estimate, and your bank has the final figure. Use the output as a reason to check your own statement, and let the bank's number settle it.

What to do with it

Run your own statement through an AI chat and look at the interest and GST figure it gives you. Then compare it with what your bank shows. If the number surprises you, that's the reason to pay more than the minimum.
