FitCheck: a virtual try-on app for tops, built with Claude
Add a photo of you and a photo of a top, and a free AI model shows how it looks on you. Claude wrote the app in 4 files.
FitCheck is a small virtual try-on app. You give it a photo of yourself and a photo of a top, and it returns a picture of you wearing that top. The reel covers Day 9 of a series with one rule set. One spin, one hour, no rerolls.
How the spin picked it
A spinner chooses what gets built each day, and on Day 9 it landed on FitCheck. The problem is a familiar one. Clothes ordered online don't always fit the way the product photo suggests, and you find out only after they arrive.
The plan was short. Take your photo, take a photo of the top, and let an AI model put them together.
The prompt and the build
The prompt had one rule. The app had to be free, with no sign-up and nothing saved on my side.
Claude built it in 4 files in 20 minutes.
If you're thinking about trying the same kind of build, the useful part is the rule in the prompt. A clear limit like "free, no sign-up, nothing saved" gives the model something concrete to work from.
What happens to your photo
The app doesn't do the image work itself. Your photo and the top go to a free AI model on Hugging Face. The model redraws you wearing that top and sends the picture back. The model is IDM-VTON, released under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, so it's free and non-commercial.
That also explains the privacy note. Your photo leaves the app and goes to a free AI service. Nothing is saved on my side, but the upload still happens, so don't send anything private.
Limits worth knowing
It's a preview. Real fit can look different from what the model draws, so read the result as a rough look at the top on you.
It works best on tops, so start there.
The result in the reel is the whole flow in one line. Photo in, top in, fit checked.
What to try
If you build something like this, write your constraints into the prompt first and keep the upload warning visible to users. If you'd rather just use it, comment TRYON on the reel for the link. Then pick a top you've been unsure about and see how it looks on you.
